The Department of Art provides experience, opportunities, coursework and faculty that will develop the role of visual art in your life. Our department provides broad curricula in studio art, art education, design, computer applications, community arts and art history.
The advantages of studying art at Concordia are many: art organizations, galleries, museums, exhibition opportunities, internships, arts-related jobs, and a vibrant music and theatre community are all in your backyard.You will be taught by professors holding the highest degrees in their fields. Our art faculty and students all know and support each other, enjoy socializing together and participate in our active Art Club. Scholarships are available for incoming and continuing students in art.
Our art students have 24-hour access to a wide range of facilities including ceramics and printmaking studios,digital art and photography labs. Students studying graphic design have 24-hour access to current industry tools,including the entire Adobe creative suite and large format digital printing. Drawing, sculpture, and painting are also supported in their own areas and facilities.
The art department's gallery program showcases professional artists' work in the Concordia Gallery; the adjoining H. Williams Teaching Gallery is devoted to exhibiting the artwork of Concordia students. The department also offers many off-campus experiences, ranging from field trips to local museums, to our biennial trip to Mexico. Concordia supports off-campus internships and places its graduates with relative ease.
