Criminal Justice

The criminal justice major at Concordia offers undergraduate students the opportunity to explore the criminal justice system within the social and behavioral science realm.  The knowledge and expertise of the faculty allow students to develop a deep understanding of the subject matter.  The major is structured around key topics such as juvenile justice, community policing, the judicial process, and criminal law.  Students complete a 12-credit internship in order to apply what they have learned in the classroom environment to a setting in the criminal justice field.  The program (curriculum) meets the requirements for the Minnesota POST Board certification for students who plan to pursue careers in law enforcement.

Concordia offers students an excellent faculty, small classes, and a lot of individual attention.  Students can choose from a variety of internship opportunities located within the Twin Cities metropolitan community.  Students will study and learn in settings that equip them to understand and interact with people from different cultural backgrounds.

Concordia Criminal Justice graduates are well-versed in the structure, operation and processes of the criminal justice system.  Employment opportunities in this arena have continually increased over the years and careers include: law enforcement and related fields, courts and corrections and positions in private security.
