Teacher Education - Early Childhood

The teacher education program prepares professionals in a Lutheran liberal arts environment for life-long learning and service in teaching, research and leadership in our diverse and global community.  The program has been the pride of Concordia for nearly 60 years.  It is widely recognized for excellence in its programs, faculty, staff and candidates, and regarded as among the finest in the state of Minnesota and in the Concordia University System.

Concordia's exemplary program is known especially for its preparation of teachers who are "professional decision makers" for urban settings and teachers for Lutheran schools.  Our teacher education program is fully accredited by the National Council of Accreditation for Teacher Education (continuously since 1969) and the Minnesota Board of Teaching.  The program embraces and lives its core values of quality, diversity and service- all within the context of the Christian Gospel.  Students enjoy a caring and individualized learning environment marked by a series of field experiences and student teaching- an outstanding blend of theory and practice.  The faculty, in collaboration with partner-practitioners and staff, are recognized for their expertise, team approach, efficiency and student-centered focus.  Our student/faculty ratio ensures that students continue to receive the personal and individualized attention that is the hallmark of the department and the University.  You will benefit from our key partnerships with the Southeast Asian Teacher licensure program, Hmong Culture and Language program, St. Paul and Minneapolis Public Schools, and the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod schools (Minnesota South District).  We are also the sponsor of five public chartered schools in the Twin Cities.

Concordia Teacher Education graduates have obtained rewarding careers in license areas that range from Pre-Kindergarten to grade 12.
