Sociology
If you are interested in how people interact and how social class and ethnic backgrounds shape people's lives, you will enjoy the study of sociology. Concordia's sociology program is grounded in the liberal arts and prepares students to be critical thinkers about the social world. The sociology major includes core preparation in social theory and research methods and training in three key areas of sociology: classic sociology, the life course and applied sociology. Sociology provides an excellent foundation for graduate work in sociology and related disciplines, law school, and careers in social research, social policy and the social services.
You will be taught by top-caliber faculty, benefit from small classes and receive individual attention. Students can choose from a variety of internship opportunities located within the Twin Cities metropolitan community. Students will study and learn in settings that equip them to understand and interact with people from different cultural backgrounds.
Concordia sociology graduates work in a variety of fields including: adoption services, probation, youth development, gerontology, and law and community development.
