In February of 2005, Tom Rubbelke was named Concordia University’s Athletic Director. Prior to being named to his new position, Rubbelke served as the school's Assistant Athletic Director and Compliance Coordinator where he was responsible for Concordia meeting all NCAA regulations regarding scholarships and a student-athlete's academic standing.
He also spent seven seasons at the helm of the Concordia softball program where he compiled a 220-124 record, including a 56-25 Northern Sun record since the Bears joined the league in 2000. He guided the Bears to the NSIC regular-season and tournament title in 2001, when the team went 27-14. He was named the NSIC Coach of the Year in 2001. He guided the Bears to five 30-plus winning seasons in seven years. Prior to taking the head coaching position in 1998, Rubbelke served as the Bears assistant coach for fifteen seasons.
He and his wife Barb have two children, Bryan and Teresa, and a grandson, Austin.
