LaViolette Earns Repeat Appearance on ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team

Feb. 07Concordia's Katie LaViolette has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII First Team for the second straight year, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). LaViolette, the first Concordia women's basketball player to be named to the team, was a third team Academic All-American selection last season.

LaViolette, a senior point guard from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, maintains a 4.00 cumulative grade point average as a kinesiologyat Concordia.

She is leads the nation in assist to tournover ration at 3.34 and is second in the nation and first in the Northern Sun with 8.4 assists per game.  She is the school's career leader in assists with 690 and has recorded at least 10 assists eight times this season including a season-high of 15 last weekend against Minneota Crookston.

LaViolette can also score, averaging 11.0 points with 12 double-digit efforts including a career-high 21 points in the Golden Bears 78-77 win over Wayne State. She also averages 5.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals.

As an academic all-district first team selection, LaViolette now moves to the national ballot, where she will be considered for Academic All-America recognition.

Selections for the Academic All-District VII Teams were based on a vote conducted among college sports information directors in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ontario and Manitoba.
