Busy Weekend Of Basketball On Tap, Get To The Gangelhoff Center Early

Feb. 14– The Concordia men's and women's basketball teams will host Upper Iowa and Winona State this weekend in their final NSIC home games of the season.  The women are currently in first in the NSIC and look to earn a sweep.  The men are currently in third in the NSIC look to stop #1 Winona State's 45 game win streak on Saturday.

On Friday night, the Concordia athletic department will recognize a pair of accomplishments by the Bears this season. Senior Kyle Marxhausen will be honored for scoring his 1,000 career point before the men's game and at halftime, junior Katie LaViolette will receive recognition for becoming the school's all-time assist leader at the DII level.  LaViolette is nine assists shy of the school's single-season assist record and is second in the nation, averaging 8.6 assists per game.

Saturday, the Bears host the #1 team in the country in men's basketball as Winona State comes to town on a 45-game winning streak.  The first 100 Concordia students thru the doors will receive a t-shirt.  Davanni's pizza will host a halftime give-away for both the men's and women's games.  The men's basketball team will honor Seborn Yancy at halfime of the women's game for earning the Getzlaff Scholarship Award in 2006-07. It will also be senior day for the men only, as the women have no seniors this season.

We would encourage all fans to arrive early on Saturday in particular as seating may be limited.  There will be a girls high school basketball game at the Gangelhoff Center at 3:00.  The ticket window will open at 5:00 both nights, with no advance ticket sales.
