LaViolette Named to NCAA All-Tournament Team

Mar. 13Junior point guard Katie LaViolette, the nation's assist leader, was named to the NCAA North Central Regional all-tournament team after leading Concordia University to the regional semifinals, where they fell in a dramatic overtime finish.

Rounding out the all-tournament team were three players from North Dakota: tournament MVP Kelsey Maffin, Ashley Langen and Kierah Kimbrough and Liz Fischer from Nebraska-Kearney.

LaViolette averaged 22.0 points and 12.5 assists while adding 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in the two games for the sixth-seeded Golden Bears. In the tournament, she shot 57.7% (15-26) from the field, 50.0% (3-6) from three-point range and a perfect 100.0% (11-11) at the free throw line.

In the first round win, LaViolette poured in 21 points, equaling a career-high at the time, while dishing out a career-high and 2006-07 NCAA Division II single-game high 17 assists. She also had six rebounds and four steals in the victory over 22nd-ranked South Dakota, the third seed.

In the regional semifinal loss to seventh-seeded Nebraska-Kearney, LaViolette torched the Lopers for a career-high 23 points while dishing out eight assists.
