Defending NSIC Champion Golden Bears Announce 2007-08 Schedule

May. 16– Concordia University women's basketball coach Paul Fessler has announced the 2007-08 schedule as the Golden Bears look to defend their Northern Sun regular season and tournament titles.

The Bears open the season hosting the Wildwood Lodge Tip-Off Classic at the Gangelhoff Center where they take on Missouri Valley College and Northern Michigan. Augustana will be the fourth team competing at the classic, crossing over with Concordia.

The Bears will be playing in two other classics next season, travelling to Kingsville, Texas to participate in the Turkey Day Shootout on Thanksgiving weekend Nov. 23-24 and will play Incarnate Word and St. Mary's University. During the holiday season, Concordia travels to Denver, Colo. to play in the Metro State Classic where they face regional rivals Metro State and UC-Colorado Springs on Dec. 28-29.

Capping off their non-conference schedule, Concordia travels to take on North Central Conference members and future NSIC foes Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State and St. Cloud State between Dec. 15 and Dec. 20 - all on the road.

They begin defending their conference championship in the regular season when MSU Moorhead comes to the Gangelhoff Center on Dec. 1 and close out their NSIC season Feb. 22-23 when they host SW Minnesota State and Wayne State.

The NSIC Tournament takes place Mar. 3 with the semifinals on Mar. 9-10 at a site to be determined by the highest remaining seed in the tournament. The winner of the tournament receives a bid to compete in the NCAA North Central Region Tournament Mar. 14-17 at a site to be determined.

The Golden Bears are not only defending their NSIC Championships, but also look to extend their streak of five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances as well as six straight 20-plus winning seasons. Next year's squad will feature many familiar faces as the 2006-07 Bears didn't have any seniors.
