Sep. 30– Concordia freshman Kevin Strandberg fired back-to-back 79's to lead the Bears with a 158 and finish 42nd of 59 golfers at the Central Regional Fall Invite at the Wildflower Golf Course in Detroit Lakes. As a team, the Bears shot a 338-336-674. Missouri Western won the team title with a 293-282=575, while Winona State's Troy Merritt earned medalist honors with a two-day score of 68-69=137.
David Rugg and Nick Gallaway each tied for 54th with scores of 170. Rugg fired a 88-82, while Gallaway shot a 81-89. Lance Meyer shot a 93-86=179 to finish 58th and Matt Alford had two rounds of 90 for a 180.
The Bears will be in action again on Oct. 1st as they host the Golden Bear Dual with Upper Iowa at Tartan Park Golf Course in Lake Elmo.
