Jarred Sampson is now in his second year as the head coach of the Golden Bears Track & Field program and will help with cross country this season.
During his first year, the track & field teams had two NCAA provisional qualifiers, 9 NSIC conference champions and broke 15 school records during the indoor and outdoor seasons. Sampson works primarily with the sprint, jump, and multi-event athletes.
Prior to Concordia, Sampson was the boys and girls head cross country and co-head track & field coach at Como Park High School for two years. While at Como Park, he received the Saint Paul City Conference Coach of the Year Award for both cross country and track & field. He also taught women's strength training community education classes at Como Park.
Sampson coached at Concordia as an assistant track & field coach for a year prior to Como Park High School. He worked with the sprint, hurdle, jumps, pole vault, and multi-event athletes. Before working at Concordia and Como Park, Coach Sampson was an assistant track & field and volunteer cross county coach at Orono High School and an assistant cross country coach at Edina High School.
Sampson graduated from Hamline University in 2000 with a BA in Anthropology and a minor in Elementary Education. While at Hamline, he competed in cross country and track & field, specializing in the long sprints and relays. Sampson attended Kasson-Mantorville High School in southeastern Minnesota. He is a certified USA Track & Field Level I and II (jumps) coach and is very active in coaching education and clinics.
