Matt Higgins is in his fifth year as the women's golf coach and third year as the men's golf coach at Concordia and is the only coach in the school's five-year history of the women's golf program. He guided the Golden Bears women’s golf program to a program best third-place finish at the 2004 and 2007 NSIC conference championships along with their first tournament win this past fall at the MSU-Moorhead Invitational. He helped guide the team to a fifth-place finish at the 2003 and 2005 NSIC conference championships. He led the Golden Bears men’s golf program to a seventh-place finish during their first year of competition in 2005 and a fifth-place finish in 2006.
Coach Higgins was named the NSIC Women's Golf Coach of the Year in 2004. He has had two players make it to the NCAA regional tournament and one player make it to the NCAA national tournament. He also has coached three all-MSIC performers, two all-tournament performers, four NGCA All-American Scholar Team members and has had three athletes earn medalist honors.
Coach Higgins is an adjunct professor in the kinesiology and continuing education departments and also worked in the Information and Technology department at Concordia University, St. Paul. He has been with Concordia University since 1997. He is married and has two young daughters -Leah and Kellie.
