Meet our Faculty
Most of our faculty are practitioners in the field of Criminal Justice:
Professor Linda Finney, Retired superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension
finney@csp.edu

After 30+ years in law enforcement, I know the stress and ever changing demands can take its toll on criminal justice professionals, but I'm encouraged by the commitment to excellence and service that is exhibited by Concordia's students. What I find special about teaching in the CJ program is that it affords me the opportunity to still contribute to this profession by helping to educate these future leaders.

Professor Joe Arvidson, Probation Officer, Ramsey County Community Corrections

In that many members of the cohort are current CJ practitioners, I love watching the careers of former students develop. It is extremely satisfying to hear a familiar voice on the news, or see a former student's name in the paper and recall them from a recent cohort. Additionally, I often receive calls or e-mails from former students--not asking for help academically, but for assistance as a criminal justice peer.
The connections made at Concordia truly last a lifetime

Professor David Axt, Security Manager, Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant

One of the most fulfilling aspects of teaching at Concordia is seeing the students' eagerness and enthusiasm for delving into new concepts, materials and techniques. Above all else, though, the most rewarding part is seeing students apply the learned information at his or her workplace. This is, after all, why we are all here at Concordia, and it is both the teacher and student's ultimate aim.

Professor Jim Nystrom, University of Minnesota Police Department, Community Investigations-West Bank
nystrom@csp.edu

As a graduate of Concordia University’s Criminal Justice BA and MA cohort programs, it gives me great pleasure to continue the on-line learning experience as an adjunct faculty member.
Delivering course materials to adult practitioners allows me the opportunity of continued learning and growth, not only in the field of law enforcement, but as an educator and member of the community.

Professor Loren Evenrud

With over 40 years of experience as an educator and a law enforcement professional, I appreciate the opportunity to work with students enrolled in the undergraduate and graduate degree programs at Concordia University.
I am committed to the principles of adult learning. Since our core curriculum is designed to be relevant for students who are criminal justice practitioners. I also believe that a non-threatening, collaborative learning environment works best for students who must balance their personal, family, and professional life while seeking to achieve their educational goals.
