Welcome to the Department of Criminal Justice

On September 30, 2008, The Department of Criminal Justice suffered a terrible loss. Our leader, friend, and colleague, Scott Harr, passed away suddenly. Scott's spirit lives on in our program and we would like to remember him on our site.

Mike Conner and Laurel Forsgren worked with Scott Harr in the department and are available for any questions. Rita Kenyon is the department chair and is also available for questions. Please feel free to contact either of us at our email or phone numbers (below).

We are proud of the bachelor's and master's criminal justice degree programs that have been developed specifically for adult students who are already working in the field or have experience (this program does not lead to police licensure in Minnesota). Experience is considered with each applicant but can include work or volunteer experience in any area of the criminal justice or military field.  Students with little or no experience may be considered.

While the convenience of online learning is special, (click to view article about online learning)  what really makes our programs unique are the faculty who actually work in the fields they teach and the students who work in all aspects of the system around the nation and Canada. Our students even continued their education when away from home under varied circumstances including work assignments and military deployment. Our program begins with an on-campus two day residency.

This fully accredited program is designed to meet the varied reasons adults want to return to school and is accomplished in a meaningful and respective manner. We understand adult learners have different needs at this point in their lives including the demands of family and work.

From all of us here at Concordia, we welcome you as you explore this opportunity to pursue your particular dream and look forward to answering your questions.
We are as excited about the program we have developed as we are about your considering furthering your education!
