The Loft supports writers by offering creative writing classes, readings by local authors, and space for writers to work on their craft.

The Modern Language Association (MLA) provides information about new books and news in the field of English and offers a guide to graduate programs in literature, creative writing, composition, rhetoric, curriculum and design, and more.

The Midwest Writing Center Association (MWCA) web site contains information about regional writing center conferences, new research on teaching and tutoring writing, and opportunities for undergraduate students to present or publish research. 

Concordia's Lisa Whalen is MWCA Secretary.  Students have the opportunity to work with her on research or other Writing Center projects and present their work at yearly conferences all over the Midwest.

The International Writing Center Association (IWCA) web site provides information about tutoring writing as an undergraduate as well as about upcoming international conferences.  Be sure to check out information about the 2005 International Writing Centers Association conference being held in Minneapolis and hosted by writing center directors from Concordia and other local colleges.

The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) provides information and resources for current and potential teachers of English.  It contains information about the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), and covers the subject areas of language, literacy, writing, literature, communication, and more.
