CSP Music Facilities
Music plays a large role in student life at Concordia, both as an area of study and a mode of expression. The music curriculum includes courses in music theory, history and literature, church music, music education, vocal and instrumental techniques, conducting, private lessons in piano, organ, harpsichord, voice, guitar and all band and orchestra instruments, plus a full range of ensembles.
The Buetow Memorial Music Center houses the department and features a 500-seat auditorium; three rehearsal rooms for choir, band, and chamber ensembles; three classrooms; 16 private piano/instrument practice rooms; four organ practice rooms; two electronic MIDI labs; 16 faculty offices/studios; and a three-manual concert organ designed by Hermann Schlicker. Concordia became an all-Steinway piano school in 2002.
