Connecting Faith and Life Daily and Deeply
At Concordia University you can share and grow in your faith every day. Morning chapel services aren't the only option you'll have. There are also evening services which allow you to wrap up your busy school day in prayer and contemplation. On Monday evenings there is Compline (close of the day prayer). Tuesday evenings there is Taize prayer. Wednesday evenings is fish, an all student led contemporary praise and prayer service. Thursday evenings there is Holden evening prayer. These all provide opportunities for spiritual growth.
While organized by Concordia's Campus Ministry Center, with the exception of fish, each of these services uses students as leaders. Either as prayer leaders, as cantors, as musicians or as scripture readers. Chapel services aren't the only places where you can get involved in personal spiritual growth.
Prisms is another means for spiritual growth at Concordia. Organized teams of students assist in leading youth events at congregations and camps in Minnesota and use these opportunities to share and celebrate the Gospel message and bring Christian faith into action.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes has an active presence on campus, encouraging Bible study, prayer and witness by student athletes. Students interested in expressing their faith artistically can find outlooks through activities like the chapel choir and band and the drama group Gospel Time in Gospel Rhyme.
Putting faith into action through service learning is also a major part of spiritual life at Concordia. Student volunteers assist in a range of activities including working at the Dorothy Day homeless shelter, mentoring inner-city grade school students, and a variety of other outreach ventures at congregations in the metro area.
