Meet Our Faculty

Jim Seemann, Resident Designer

Jim Seemann, Ph.D., comes to Concordia from Boston, Massachusetts, where he has worked in professional scene shops as a designer, project manager, and charge scenic artist. He has participated in a variety of jobs with clients such as the Boston Ballet, the Boston Museum of Science, Polaroid, and Walt Disney Productions. Prior to that he served at Theatre Memphis for nine years as a production manager and scenic designer where he received approximately eleven regional awards in over fifty plays. His educational experiences include teaching at Lincoln University, Viterbo College, the University of California at Irvine, the University of North Dakota, and the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.  He majored in art at Valparaiso and received a Colloquy from Concordia River Forest.

Michael J. Horejsi, Technical Director and Facilities Manager

Michael J. Horejsi joined the Concordia Theatre Department as Technical Director in the fall of 2005. He has worked as a freelance designer and technician for fifteen years, and has designed for organizations such as The Duluth Ballet, The Royal Swedish Opera, Oregon Festival of American Music, and the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, among others. As a technician, Michael's credits include The Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, The Guthrie Theater, The Skylight Opera Theatre, American Player's Theatre, and Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. He has five years of national and international touring experience, and has worked large industrial productions such as the NBA All Star Jam Session and the Target National Convention. Michael is currently working part time on an M.F.A. in Design and technology at The University of Minnesota. 

Kay Robinson, Adjunct Professor and Costume Designer

Kay M. Robinson started undergraduate school as a Home Economics and English major. but eventually figured out she belonged in Theatre, earning a Ph.D. in Theatre from Michigan State and an M.A. from the University of Illinois.  Dr. Robinson has worked in many areas of theatre, directed dozens of shows and costumed more than 100, and taught theatre at university level for nearly 30 years.  Areas of special interest are costuming, Asian theatre, and theatre history.

Mark Rosenwinkel, Adjunct Professor

Mark Rosenwinkel’s professional acting career spans nearly three decades, and includes work with most of the major Twin Cities theatres including the Guthrie and Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, as well as the Asolo Theatre in Florida and the Illinois and Idaho Shakespeare Festivals. A member of the Playwrights' Center, he has also been the recipient of numerous awards in playwriting, most notably the 2002 Writers' Digest Literary Award for Best Play (Sanctus). His play Wellstone!, based on the life of the late the late Minnesota Senator, premiered at History Theatre in St. Paul in 2006, and his recent adaptation of Lois Lowry’s novel, The Giver, will premiere at Stages Theatre in Hopkins this spring. A 1977 graduate of Concordia College, St. Paul, he currently serves as Program Director for the Concordia Summer Music Theatre Camp for junior and senior high school students. He holds an M.F.A.in theatre from the Asolo/FSU Conservatory for Actor Training in Sarasota, Florida.

Heidi Spesard-Noble, Adjunct Professor

Heidi Spesard-Noble holds a B.F.A. from the University of Utah, and recently served as Assistant Choreographer for the Utah Symphony and Opera’s production of The Grapes of Wrath. Spesard-Noble’s choreography experience incudes Lakme, Orazi e Curiazi, Carmen, and La traviata for the Minnesota Opera, Midlife! The Crisis Musical, Brigadoon, Big Bang, and The Christmas Show for the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres; Jesus Christ, Superstar at Hamline University; and Runaways for Macalester College. Her performances include The Merry Widow at the Minnesota Opera; 42nd Street, Phantom, Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady, The Music Man, Can-Can, and Beauty and the Beast for the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres; Rite of Spring, Swan Lake, Mythical Hunters, Allegro Brilliant, and others for the Minnesota Dance Theatre; An American in Paris, Cakewalk, Valse Fantasie, and others for the State Ballet of Missouri; Cinderlla and Nutcracker Not So Suite for the Ballet of the Dolls.
