SCI222 Environmental Science - 2 credits This course will help students gain knowledge and an understanding of basic ecological/environmental principles. It will also include a review of current environmental problems and issues. Each week there will be a lab or field activity designed to help students explore the environment and analyze collected data.
SCI321 Vocabulary of Science - 2 credits This course will help students build a better science vocabulary, particularly as it relates to medical terminology. Students will learn the basic elements of words, such as roots, prefixes, suffixes, combining vowels, and combining forms.
SCI421 History and Philosophy of Science - 2 credits This course deals with the historical basis of science from the perspective of the early Egyptian, Babylonian, Greek, Chinese, Hindu, and Islamic cultures. Emphasis is on the growth and development of scientific theory and its applications with and between these cultures. The role of women in the early development of science is also discussed. Two lecture/discussion sections per week.
SCI499 Environmental Science Topics - 2 credits This course covers the major environmental concerns of the earth. (Prerequisites: 1 year chemistry and 1 year biology)
