History Major

History Major

Majoring in History involves the study of how to interpret objects and written documents from the past. How can studying the past help us make sense of the present? How has child rearing changed across cultures throughout time? How is archival research conducted? You’ll learn to think critically, understand differing interpretations and viewpoints and become a better citizen as you take 44 credit hours towards a Bachelor of Arts degree.

You’ll also have real opportunities beyond the classroom with travel, service-learning, History Club activities and internship experiences. And because we design our history program to be responsive to the exact needs of the marketplace, it will be a relevant major if you’re considering a career in research, teaching, public relations, the travel industry, library science, politics, public policy, law, journalism, advertising, archives and museums and related professions.
