Bears Ink Three Men, One Woman to Golf Teams for 2007-08

Apr. 25– Concordia head men's and women's golf coach Matt Higgins has announced that Kyle Lewis, Brett Myers and Alex Timm will join the men's golf team for 2007-08 while Molly Noser has committed to the join the women's squad.

Lewis, who hails from Forest Lake, Minn., is a five-time letterwinner in golf and also earned one letter in soccer in his prep career. He has been named all-conference and was a state tournament participant. "Kyle is a solid player and student who comes from a great family. We are excited for him to join the CU golf program. He will step in and be a leader on this team immediately," said Higgins.

Myers, a native of Garden City, Kansas, was a four-time letterwinner in golf while also earning two in basketball and one in football. The all-around high school athlete was a Western Athletic Conference runner-up in golf during the 2006 season, earning all-conference honors. "Brett is a solid player from a great family, much like Kyle and we expect him to make an immediate impact in our program," said Higgins.

Timm, from Hopkins, Minn., will be walking on with the Golden Bears next season. "I am thrilled that Alex has decided to join the Concordia golf program. He's a very good player and is expected to contribute immediately."

Noser, from Rochester Lourdes High School in Rochester, Minn., is a six-time letterwinner in golf while also earning a pair in tennis. She has competed at the state tournament three consecutive years entering the 2007 season (2004-06), placing eighth in 2004, 12th in 2005 and fourth in 2006. She was nominated for the Rochester Amature Female Athlete of teh Year and was a Rochester All-City Female Golf Champion. "Molly is one of the best golfers in the state and we are happy to get her in the program. She had an outstanding prep career and we look forward to her continuing that at CU."

The four golfers join a Concordia golf program that is on the rise in the Northern Sun.
