Lewis Becomes First Golden Bear to Qualify For NCAA Super Regional

Apr. 26Freshman Kyle LewisConcordia freshman Kyle Lewis (Forest Lake, MN) has earned an at-large invitation to compete in the NCAA Central/Great Lakes Super Regional to be held May 5-7, 2008 at the Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio. He becomes the first Golden Bear men's golfer to qualify for the NCAA meet in the third year of men's golf at Concordia.

Lewis has played 17 rounds of competitive golf this year and has a 76.2 stroke/18 hole average. He has 13 rounds in the 70's with a low of 72, accomplished three times.

The top eight teams earned invitations to the super regional in Ohio and the top five individuals not on a competing team earned an invitation.  Lewis earned the third individual invitation slot.

The top team from each region within the super regional and the top individual not with a team from each super regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 14-17 at the Division II Spring National Championships Festival in Houston, Texas.  The finals will be hosted by Rice University and the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority.
