Nelson, Kiss Sign with Concordia

Jun. 18– Concordia University women's soccer coach Joe Alianiello has announced that Lauren Nelson and Nacole Kiss have signed to play for the Golden Bears in 2007-08.

Nelson comes to Concordia from Seymour (Wis.) High School where she earned four letters in soccer and cross country while picking up one more in basketball. The two-time team MVP and captain earned all-conference honors twice in her career while also picking up all-area honorable mention honors during her sophomore season.

"Lauren is a talented, versatile player who can play outside mid or outside back on the left side. She should immediately compete for a role on our team," said Alianiello.

Kiss was a three-time letterwinner on the soccer field and also picked up four in track & field for Bellevue Christian in Kirkland, Wash. She was a team captain and also earned the coaches award twice. The two sport star will also join the Concordia track & field squad in 2007-08.

"Nacole is a fast player who will add another punch to our attack. She can create chances from the flank or finish them while playing up top. I look forward to her making a big contribution to the team over the next four years," said Alianiello.

Nelson and Kiss join Rachel Alberg, Brittany Brandt, Kasey Dobbs, Kari Janes and Sara Sather, giving the Bears seven newcomers for 2007-08. They join a squad that won a school record 11 games, finishing 11-11-1 overall with a 6-3 mark in the NSIC to finish second. The Bears also took third at the NSIC Tournament, winning their first two postseason games in school history.
