Bears Remain Undefeated with Sweep of Warriors

Sep. 08– #3 Concordia-St. Paul (11-0, 2-0 NSIC) continued their strong undefeated start by sweeping Winona State University (7-4, 1-1 NSIC), 30-25, 30-22, 30-25 on Saturday afternoon at the Gangelhoff Center.

The Bears extend two winning streaks, their obvious 11 match win streak to start the season and their winning streak against conference opponents which now stands at 66, the fourth longest such streak in NCAA Division II history.

Concordia was led by Whitney Meierotto and Raina Hein who had 13 kills apiece. Meierotto had a double-double with 12 digs and she also piled up four aces.

Junior Maria Steinhagen had 10 kills and hit .333 in 21 attempts while recording three block assists and Sadie Kessler had nine kills.

Maggie McNamara continued to set a solid Concordia offensive attack with 42 assists while the team hit .217. She also had seven digs and three blocks.

The Golden Bears return to the floor on Tuedsay, September 11 in a battle of two top five teams in the nation and the perennial regional powers as #4 Minnesota Duluth travels to the Gangelhoff Center for a 7:00 match.
