NSIC Co-Offensive Player of the Week
#5 Kole Goodchild
QB, 6-4, 220, Sr.,
West Bend, Iowa
West Bend-Mallard HS
Concordia-St. Paul

Goodchild shattered records in a dramatic 46-41 shootout victory over MSU Moorhead, completing 31 passes for 433 yards and five touchdowns – all new school records. His touchdowns went for 11,12,18,50 and 39 yards. He did not throw any interceptions in 46 attempts and was sacked twice on the afternoon. Adding to the impressive performance was the fact that he shared the reps under center with red-shirt freshman quarterback Hayden Vavra due to an ankle injury that forced him from last week’s game and caused him to miss the full week of practice to prepare for the Dragons. The NSIC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year earns his first player of the week award in 2007 and third of his career.

Simon was the main benefactor of Goodchild’s record-breaking performance, hauling in nine receptions for 198 yards and four touchdowns. The receptions and yardage were both new career-highs for Simon, but his four touchdowns established a new school record. He hauled in touchdowns of 12 and 18 yards in the second quarter before exploding for a 50 yarder in the third and a 39 yarder in the fourth quarter. His explosive effort contributed to a 46-41 shootout victory against MSU Moorhead. In seven games this season, Simon has 30 receptions for 539 yards and six touchdowns. He leads the team in receiving yards (539) and his six touchdowns are tied for the team lead with fellow receiver Tyrone Ruffin. He is averaging 18.0 yards per reception and has three 100-yard performances. This is Simon's second NSIC Player of the Week honor of 2007.
