Oct. 18– Senior quarterback Kole Goodchild earned his second NCAA Division II National Offensive Player of the Week honor this week as he was selected to the honor by Don Hansen's Football Gazette. Earlier in the week, Goodchild earned the honor for D2football.com.

Goodchild was one of three offensive players of the week along with Ryan Poole, a senior quarterback from West Georgia and Brad Roach, a senior quarterback from Catawba College. Roach and Goodchild shared the D2Football.com award. 

There were also two defensive players, five special teamers and two offensive linemen of the week.

The Football Gazette publication selects multiple national players of the week for the NCAA Division I-AA (FCS), NCAA Division I-AA Mid Major, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and NCCAA levels.

Last week, Goodchild completed 31-46 for 433 yards and five touchdown passes while engineering the Golden Bears down the field in the two minute offense, setting up backup quarterback Hayden Vavra for a game-winning one yard touchdown run with 13 seconds left to win 46-41.

Goodchild set three individual records and helped Concordia to two other team records in the win. Four of his five touchdown passes were to wide receiver Calvin Simon, who shared NSIC Offensive Player of the Week honors with him.

Goodchild, who left the previous game at Southwest Minnesota State due to an injury and did not practice leading up to the MSU Moorhead game on Saturday, shared reps under center with Vavra, adding to the impressive performance.

Goodchild is the second player in Concordia history to be named Don Hansen's Football Gazette National Player of the Week, joining James McNear, a two-time selection in 2005. Goodchild was the first player to receive the D2Football.com national honor.
