Championship Banner Unveiled at Gangelhoff Center - Golden Bears Unanimous No. 1 in Final AVCA National Poll

The Concordia University athletic department and university administration unveiled the 2007 NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship banner in front of a lively crowd comprised of students, staff members, parents, program supporters and reporters from KARE 11 and WCCO TV on Monday afternoon at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn.

The event featured short, introductory speaches by the team's public address announcer Warren Falls, athletic director Tom Rubbelke, Joe Spencer, a representive from St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman's office, Northern Sun Commissioner Butch Raymond and Concordia President Dr. Robert Holst.

Head coach Brady Starkey was then introduced and thanked Concordia's "Superfans," university and athletic staff, parents and the volleyball student-athletes. He then introduced junior Maria Steinhagen and sophomore Maggie McNamara who spoke in front of their fans and supporters.

The entire team was introduced together to unveil the championship banner.



The Golden Bears finish the season as the top-ranked team in the final AVCA Coaches' Poll, receiving all 36 votes and the maximum amount of 900 points.
