Jun. 17– Concordia golf coach Matt Higgins has announced that Craig Waryan has been named his assistant coach for men's and women's golf. Waryan was an assistant at Macalester College last season and is currently a teaching professional at Edinbourgh USA in Brooklyn Park, MN.
Waryan is a 25 year PGA member and the 87th PGA member to gain coveted "Master Professional" status in the United States. He is also a two time-winner of the Minnesota PGA Golf Professional of the Year Award. He has authored golf instruction manuals, providing to instructors training on the use of proper technique, teaching methods, and target orientation. He has published articles in national golf magazines and has made numerous appearances on Twin City television and radio stations.
"I am very excited to add Craig as an assistant coach for our golf programs," says Higgins. "We have very similar coaching philosophies. His knowledge and experience will make an immediate impact with our student athletes on the men’s and women’s golf programs."
Waryan has taught golf at every level, from tour players to beginning golfers. He enjoys and has headed numerous PGA junior golf camps. Many of Craig's students play on the LPGA Tour and national tournament level golf. His energetic and engaging style is great for champions as well as entry level players.
