Grannes Earns Academic All-District Honors

Nov. 03Concordia senior Emily Grannes has earned ESPN The Magazine second team Academic All-District honors. Grannes, a senior from Apple Valley, MN had a 3.95 GPA as an undergraduate student in kinesiology.  She is currently a graduate student in organizational management at CSP.

Grannes played in and started all 23 games for the Concordia soccer team that won a school-record 11 games in 2006.  She anchored a defense that allowed only seven goals in nine NSIC games.  She finished her career with one goal and two assists.

The Academic All-District Teams program honors male and female student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom.

Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America; a 2,000-member organization consisted of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

Grannes is the second Concordia soccer player to earn the award.  Lindsay Hartleben was a second-team Academic All-American in 2005.
