Ruffin, Warnemunde Named All-Northwest Region Second Team

Nov. 29– The Concordia football team had a pair of players named to the 2006 Daktronics, Inc. Division II All-Northwest Region Football Team this afternoon. Sophomore wide receiver Tyrone Ruffin and senior center Dan Warnemunde were the two Bears to receive the honor.

Ruffin (left), who was a second team all-NSIC selection in 2006 after being named the NSIC Offensive Newcomer of the Year in 2005, was the top receiver on the top rated passing attack in the Northern Sun. Ruffin finished the season with 54 receptions for 749 yards and seven touchdowns.

Warnemunde (below right), a first team all-NSIC offensive lineman in 2006, anchored a Concordia offensive line that helped protect the league's most vaunted passing game as the Bears finished first in the league through the air in conference games with 252.4 yards per game. CU also ranked second in the league in total offense with 363.4 yards per game and had the most efficient red zone, converting 86.2% (25-29, 20 TD).

Ruffin and Warnemunde join five other players in the program's history to earn recognition on the Daktronics, Inc. all-region team. All five of the other selections were all in the class of 2005 (James McNear, Ya'Tarrie Brown, Antonio Brown, Eric Power, C.J. Sanderson).

The 2006 Daktronics, Inc. All-Northwest Region Football Team is comprised of nominations and voted on by Northwest region sports information directors.
