Kristen is in her second year on the coaching staff after concluding a four-year stellar career in a Golden Bears uniform. She finished her Concordia career holding every pitching and several hitting records. She amassed 1,007 career strikeouts, which is seventh best in NCAA Division II history. Schmidt had a career-high 350 strikeouts in 2006. She finished her career with 86 wins and a 1.45 ERA in four seasons. As a hitter, Schmidt is second all-time with 208 career hits and 36 doubles. He also had 16 home runs and 105 RBI.
In 2005 she became the first Golden Bear to earn NFCA third team all-American honors and also earned ESPN The Magazine second team Academic All-American honors. She is a two-time NSIC Pitcher of the Year and four-time all-NSIC first team selection. She earned NFCA all-region first team honors in 2005 and 2006 and led the Golden Bears to three straight NCAA North Central Region championship games and was the North Central Regional Tournament MVP in 2006 despite the Golden Bears loss to Emporia in the championship game.
She earned a degree kinesiology in 2006 and a master’s degree in organizational management. She also serves as the strength and conditioning coach at Concordia.
