About the Buetow

The 27,235-square foot Buetow Memorial Music Center was named in honor of the late Herbert P. Buetow, a St. Paul industrialist, philanthropist and Lutheran layman. The facility houses the entire music department and features a 406-seat auditorium; three rehearsal rooms for choir, band, and chamber ensembles; three classrooms; 16 private piano/instrument practice rooms; four organ practice rooms; two electronic MIDI labs; 16 faculty offices/studios; and a three-manual concert organ designed by Hermann Schlicker. The Buetow Auditorium, which was completely renovated in the summer of 2016,  features a 43 rank Schlicker pipe organ and Steinway grand piano.
