This is a Web-based course that allows you to take an active role in your learning and assessment of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors experienced through successful completion of course objectives and competencies. ED470 is also designed to acquaint students with the National Health Education Standards, the Minnesota Graduation Standards, the Profiles for Learning Performance Packages, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Priority Health Risk Behaviors. We will also look into current personal and community health issues and challenges facing society and specifically the children you will be teaching. Students will instruct peers through mini-lessons and develop a basic foundational comprehension of the nature and effects of psychoactive chemicals and those factors promoting use, misuse and abuse in society today. Additional fee assessed for certification. (Prerequisite: upper level standing)
