The Minnesota Humanities Center and the Governor's Commission on the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday are sponsoring a full day of events to celebrate and honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 21 at St. Paul Central High School (275 Lexington Parkway North).
A community march will commence at 10:30 a.m. at Dunning Field (between St. Paul Central HS and Concordia University, St. Paul) and will be followed by a program at the St. Paul Central High School's auditorium at 11 a.m. The keynote speaker for the event is Commissioner Kevin M. Lindsey.
A former civil litigation attorney, Lindsey is responsible for a department that investigates charges of discrimination, ensures that businesses seeking state contracts are in compliance with equal opportunity requirements, and strive to eliminate discrimination by educating Minnesotans about their rights and responsibilities under the Minnesota Human Rights Act.
