Rev. Dr. Richard Carter has been named Concordia University, St. Paul’s interim Campus Chaplain, assuming the role following the announcement that current Campus Chaplain Todd Stocker has accepted a call as senior pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson, Wis.
“I am thankful to President Ries for trusting me with this unique opportunity to serve and learn in the CSP community." Carter said. "How do we give 3000 students and 300 faculty and staff significant ways to hear the freedom and power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? I am grateful to the many who have worked in CSP’s ministry with whom I can explore that question in team ministry in the year to come. And then I borrow words from Psalm 103: ‘Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name.’”
Carter, who has been at Concordia since 1991, is currently professor of Theology and director of Pre-Seminary Studies. He will take over full-time Campus Chaplain duties in June while the University evaluates Campus Ministry and engages in the call process for a permanent campus chaplain.
