Volleyball Championship Banner Unveiling Set For Saturday

Ceremony to Include Special Recognition by U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar

Concordia University, St. Paul volleyball's sixth NCAA Championship banner unveiling will feature a special recognition by U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar this Saturday, Jan.12 in between the women's and men's basketball games against Northern State.

The women's game tips at 4 p.m. with the men scheduled immediately following at 6 p.m. Concordia volleyball will be recognized including an address by the senior senator from Minnesota which was made to the 112th U.S. Congress on December 31, 2012. Following Sen. Klobuchar's address, the sixth NCAA Championship banner will be unveiled to the public for the first time.

Concordia University president Rev. Tom Ries and Northern Sun (NSIC) commissioner Butch Raymond will also speak at the event, which in the past has featured video of the final point, a short firework display and introducing each of the players and coaches of the championship team.

The championship by the Concordia volleyball team extends its NCAA Division II record streak to six, and ties the NCAA women's volleyball (all divisions) record with Washington-St. Louis (1991-96). No other Division II women's volleyball program has won as many total national titles as the Golden Bears.
