Concordia University, St. Paul is partnering with the Lutheran Music Program to offer a week-long day camp for middle school singers June 24-28 on Concordia's campus. Dr. David Mennicke, Chair of Concordia's Music Department, will lead the five-day program open to singers who have completed grades 5 through 8.
The Middle School Choir Camp will meet daily from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will include vocal warm-ups and games followed by reading sessions and choir rehearsals. An introduction to handbells, drum circles and music workshops will be combined with recreation and other arts activities. Concordia University professors Bill Mathis (handbells) and Aaron Isakson (percussion) will also teach at the camp.
A final informal performance for friends and family on the afternoon of Friday, June 28 will share all the students have learned during the week.
Tuition for the day camp is $200 and includes all music materials, lunch each day and a camp T-shirt.
