Local Artist Displays Cross Exhibit at Concordia
Concordia University, St. Paul and local artist Mr. James Young recently opened his "In the Cross of Christ I Glory" exhibit in Graebner Memorial Chapel on Monday, Sept. 14 at the 11 a.m. chapel service.
The opening reception began with a 20 minute worship service, the "Festival of the Holy Cross," featuring Concordia's Jubilate choir. Following the service, students and faculty could view the exhibit, meet the artist, and join with others in a brief reception in the Cross of Christ Fellowship Center.
The crosses in Young's exhibit were formed out of discarded materials. The theological message beyond the artistic message is that God takes ordinary things or even "discarded" things and makes them beautiful in the cross of Christ. The exhibit will be on disply at Concordia in the Graebner Memorial Chapel until Saturday, Oct. 5.
