MACO Students Graduate

Four students in the Master of Arts in Christian Outreach Program (MACO)—Krysia Heimer, James Pindras, Peter Slayton, and James Zickfield—successfully completed their studies this spring. They received their diplomas during the Ceremony at Commencement for recipients of advanced degrees at Concordia University, Saint Paul, on May 16.

Krysia Heimer’s major project was preparing an adaptation of Las Posadas, a traditional Hispanic Christmas festival, as a Christ-centered celebration. A manual containing all the resources necessary for the planning and implementation of Las Posadas was a result of her efforts. Krysia and her husband Stephen serve at Ysleta Lutheran Mission, El Paso, Texas.

James Pindras’ research dealt with the relationship between congregations and mission agencies, suggesting that there be better communication, collaboration, and mutual support. Jim and his family live in Downers Grove, Illinois. He is Associate Director for Congregational Relations for Lutheran Bible Translators. Peter Slayton chose to seek ways to more faithfully and effectively engage people in Christian outreach. He focused on the concepts of servanthood and mobilization in the context of mission activities. Peter and his family live in Newark, Illinois. Like Pindras, Peter is on the staff of Lutheran Bible Translators, working as Mobilization Coordinator.

James Zickfield studied various aspects of Christian outreach within a congregational setting, particularly from the perspective of one who leads these activities. James and his wife live in Kansas City, where he is currently in between positions after serving there for a number of years.

May the Lord of the Harvest continue to bless the ministries of these graduates and all others who seek to “make disciples of all nations” in His Name and with guidance of the Spirit!
