Professor Doug Millaway brings a practical approach to Leadership in Education. With more than 35 years in education, he has the experience to bring course material to life for students and illustrate how practical theories work in the"real world."  Doug has has been a regular education teacher in a middle school environment, a Counselor at the University level, a School Psychologist, a Due Process Coordinator, Special Education Director, and the Executive Director of an Education District.  Professor Millaway has also been trained in mediation techniques, and is recognized as a Qualified Neutral by Minnesota State Standards. Finally, Professor Millaway has a strong knowledge base in Educational Technology, and uses that knowledge to explore innovative ways to present course material and to allow student to complete required tasks.

Professor Millaway is also highly involved in Community Service and the Arts Community.

Career Highlight

Professor Millaway worked directly with the Minnesota Department of Education in exploring ways to provide effective special education instruction to students in alternative school settings through an intiative known as Project SEAL (Special Education in Alternative Learning).  In addition, he and a colleague developed the data collection system used by the Office of Compliance for a number of years while conducting Special Education monitoring visits.
