Adjunct Faculty - Visual Arts
Sculpture and Painting instructor Alonso Sierralta is originally from Valparaiso, Chile. He studied studio art in Nebraska and has been living in Minnesota since 1998. Sierralta began teaching at Concordia University in 2002. Sierralta’s work is exhibited regularly with recent solo shows at The Phipps Center for the Arts, Hudson, WI, Normandale Community College, Minneapolis (2012); American Craft Council, Minneapolis, (2012); and Metro State University, St. Paul, MN (2012) and recent group shows: Fragility, Prove Gallery, Duluth, MN (2013); SRAM pART Project for the World Bicycle Fund (NYC 2012, Chicago 2011), and el milagro, Intermedia Arts, Minneapolis (2011).
Sierralta was recently featured in the January 2013 (episode #409) of the TPT public television series “MN Original”. His awards include Next Step Fund Grant, Metropolitan Regional Arts Council (2011) and Best of Show, MN Textile Center, Minneapolis (2010).
