Marketing Certificate Online

Marketing Certificate -Online Self- paced study format

This certificate provides foundational courses that give students the basics of marketing theory and practice. This series of courses helps to prepare students to become effective marketing and project managers, to apply classroom learning to current marketing problems, to develop critical decision-making skills, and to become innovators in their own field of expertise.  

Participants may take one class, to explore a topic, or all the courses in the series to complete a certificate. There are no prerequisites to register for these classes, and students have the option of earning semester college credits for full certificate or non-credit for certificate of participation.

Students enrolled in the Marketing and Innovation Management degree program are ineligible.  

To earn the Marketing Certificate, students must successfully complete the following courses:

All certificate seeking students are required to take MKC310, then students may choose 12 credits from the other Marketing certificate classes listed.

MKC310 Innovative Marketing (3 credits) This course is a prerequisite for certificate seeking students.

MKC330 Marketing Research (3 credits)

MKC340 Promotional Strategy  (3 credits)     

MKC350 Relationship Marketing (3 credits)

MKC360 Electronic Marketing (3 credits)            

MKC370 Global Marketing (3 credits)         

MKC380 Marketing Strategy (3 credits)

About Online Self-paced study:

  • There is no face to face or synchronous meeting time for these classes.
  • These courses are offered on a semester basis
  • Students complete course work at their own pace but all assignments must be completed and submitted by the class end date.
  • Students may register from the start date that is listed up until 4 weeks prior to the published end date.
  • Students complete units of study independently and submit assignments and participate in discussions through the WebCT online platform.

Good candidates for this type of course work are:

  • Students with no previous marketing experience or course work.
  • Self-directed students who can stay on task without instructor direction
  • Students who desire not to be restricted by specific meeting times

The SCS drop/withdraw policy for self-paced classes is as follows:

If the course change form is received in the SCS office:
1 - 4 days (12:00PM on the 4th day) from the date of registration student can drop with no record and no charge (full refund)
5 - 7 days (12:00PM on the 7th day) from the date of registration student can drop with no record and tuition refund minus 30% admin fee
8 - 14 days (12:00PM on the 14th day) from date of registration student can withdraw [W on report card] no tuition refund
15 + days (12:00PM on the 15th day) from date of registration no refund, student receives grade earned
