Preprofessional StudiesPre-Medical

Program Overview

Pre-Medical Specialty Studies involves coursework that will prepare you for graduate school in medicine, dentistry, nursing, chiropractic, pharmacy, physical therapy or occupational therapy. You’ll work closely with a pre-med advisor in choosing courses that ensure you complete professional program requirements, develop an understanding of the connection between systems-level and molecular-level biology and learn to apply that knowledge to pathological situations. Your pre-med advisor can also help you apply for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and advise you in the professional school application process.

You can choose from a variety of majors that will help you gain the skills and knowledge necessary for medical school entrance and success, but the biology major in particular allows you to select a track appropriate to your chosen professional program. At Concordia, small class sizes and one-on-one relationships with your professors allow them to know your skills and characteristics well enough to write letters of recommendation for professional school entrance. Concordia’s emphasis on relevant, hands-on learning will give you plenty of experiences outside the classroom that will stand out on your professional school application.
