Music at Concordia

The Department of Music is an active part of learning at Concordia University, St. Paul. Students seeking a music major or minor may specialize in performance, music education (vocal and instrumental), music business, church music (Director of Parish Music), theory-composition, or music history. Additionally, private instruction in voice and instrumental music is available from some of the finest talents in the Twin Cities.


Music Scholarships

All new students who participate in official music department ensembles (totaling at least 2 credits) will be awarded a $1,000 music scholarship on top of their other grant aid, renewable for four years. If you are interested, please contact the Admissions Office.

Music Talent Scholarships are available and require an audition. For more information, please contact Dr. David Mennicke. Theatre scholarships are also available as well as talent-based theatre/dance scholarships. Auditions are required. For more information, please contact Mr. Mark Rosenwinkel.

Get Involved

Music performing groups include: Christus Chorus, Jubilate chapel choir, Shades of Harmony Gospel Choir, Opera Workshop, Vox 9 Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, Handbell Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Chapel Band, Pit Orchestra, and Chamber String Ensemble.
