Amy Matthys

Adjunct Professor in Nursing

Amy Matthys (RN, PHN, CNE, MA, MS) joined Concordia University, St. Paul in 2015 as a subject matter expert in nursing leadership and management and as an adjunct faculty member.  Matthys’ previous academic experience includes instructing for LPN, ADN and RN to BSN programs.  Her experience includes teaching on ground and online, in lab, clinical and simulation settings.  She was the Dean of Nursing for an online RN to BSN program and most recently has served as a nursing education consultant.  In addition to her collegiate teaching and leadership experience, she has been a registered nurse for over 20 years.  She has worked as a staff nurse in cardiac medical and surgical units including pediatric and adult population cardio thoracic transplant and women and children’s health.  She has been involved with shared governance and staff development in each of her hospital positions.  Matthys also proudly served in the US Army and MN Army National Guard.  She held numerous leadership positions including Company and Battalion Commander, Division Medical Operations Officer and Deputy State Surgeon.  She recently retired at the rank of Colonel.
