Carolyn Wanamaker, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Chemistry
Dr. Carolyn Wanamaker joined the science faculty at Concordia in 2014 after teaching at Normandale Community College for five years. Dr. Wanamaker’s main interests are in organic and polymer chemistry. In her graduate work, Dr. Wanamaker synthesized new biodegradable elastomeric polymers derived from corn and mint plants. Dr. Wanamaker’s current focus at Concordia is on the development of general and organic chemistry laboratory experiments that embody modern green chemistry methodology. Dr. Wanamaker has a passion for mentoring and teaching students and empowering them to learn (and perhaps enjoy) chemistry.
Aside from teaching and chemistry, Dr. Wanamaker enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves the outdoors and trying new art projects (painting, photography, crafts, ceramics, etc.) Her favorite hobby is boating on the St. Croix River with her husband, Tim.
