Dr. Joel Schuessler
Associate Professor of Information Technology in Management
A member of the CSP community for over 30 years, Dr. Schuessler used a 2014 sabbatical to study strengths coaching to hone in God’s distinct purpose for him—“to help others bless themselves” (Gen 12:3, AMP). This distinct purpose has led him to use Gallup’s world-renowned Clifton StrengthsFinder® to improve leadership self-awareness and maximize team productivity. He is certified as a strengths/teams coach by Equip2Equip.
Dr. Schuessler arrived at Concordia in 1986 as the first Director of Administrative Computer Services for seven core offices at CSP. He channeled teaching and technology into his work, leading Concordia from an era of centralized computing, green-screen terminals, and $1,000 ONE Mbyte memory cards to the advent of Concordia’s first internet addresses, campus-wide fiber, and Ethernet networks.
In 1999, he transitioned to his role as a faculty member at Concordia University St. Paul, which he continues to play as chair of the Information and Technology Management (ITM) program in the College of Business and Technology. Among other roles at Concordia, he has served many years on the Faculty Development Committee and as director of the Faculty Scholarship Center.
Dr. Schuessler’s primary passion and love are for his wife Stacey, and two children, Cole and Myia. His daily goal is to “share God’s grace through learning.
