Instructor of Kinesiology
Professor Katie Fischer has been teaching in the Kinesiology and Health Sciences Department at Concordia since 2010. As the department’s coordinator of online cohort programs, she has served in teaching and administrative roles. She teaches courses in the classroom and online and also trains adjunct faculty members to ensure a quality learning experience for students within the department’s online cohort programs. Within her courses, Fischer works with students to analyze the determinants of health and disease, and to evaluate the importance of research within the health field.
Since joining the faculty in 2010, Fischer has served on the Faculty Development Committee, and has also led the successful proposal of several graduate majors, undergraduate majors, and undergraduate minors to expand the department’s program offerings. She continues to partner with community colleges and outside organizations to develop new majors and ensure the relevance of current program offerings. Fischer’s transition to collegiate education came after one year of playing and coaching professional basketball in Australia, and a two-year position as an assistant collegiate basketball coach.
