The Board of Regents of Concordia University, St. Paul has announced the launch of a national search for the University’s 10th president. The search is overseen by the Board and follows Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod bylaws.
The presidential search committee will accept nominations for Concordia’s next president through December 10, 2018. According to the LCMS Handbook, nominations may only be accepted from LCMS congregations, the Concordia University St. Paul faculty, the Concordia University St. Paul Board of Regents and the LCMS Board of Directors of Concordia University System.
Current CSP President Rev. Dr. Tom Ries announced in August he will retire at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year. Having served in this role since 2011, Rev. Dr. Ries has helped guide Concordia to incredible growth, including significant enrollment increases and academic program expansion.
“The accomplishments of Rev. Dr. Ries during his time as Concordia’s president are a testament to his effective leadership and full commitment to making Concordia St. Paul one of the best private institutions of higher learning in both Minnesota and the country,” said CSP Board Chair Mark Moksnes. “The Board is truly thankful for his service and unwavering professionalism each and every day he has guided this University.”
The Board expects to select Concordia’s next president at its May 2019 meeting.
