The Minnesota Campus Compact has awarded a CSP student, faculty member, and a CSP partnership for the annual presidents’ awards. Each year, the Minnesota Campus Compact recognizes those who are civic engagement leaders on their campuses. This year, winners will be awarded on April 10.
There are three award categories: The Presidents’ Student Leadership Award, The Presidents’ Civic Engagement Steward Award, and The Presidents’ Community Partner Award.
The Presidents’ Student Leadership Award is being given to CSP student Brooke Steigauf (right). Steigauf is a courageous activist for building bridges between the student body on controversial topics, which is done through her leadership of CSP’s PEACE club as well as her role as Editor-in-Chief for the student newspaper, The Sword. This has given her the opportunity to bring different issues and opinions to the student body.
The Presidents’ Civic Engagement Steward Award is being given to Dr. Jeanne Lojovich (left). Lojovich is the assistant director of CSP’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. She has helped advance the DPT cornerstone of Christian Service. With her work, the DPT program has been able to establish ongoing partnerships with community organizations that include the St. Paul Public Housing, the YMCA, and the Indian Health Services. Her service passport program as encouraged dozens of students to engage with the community.
The Presidents’ Community Partner Award recognizes the partnership between CSP and Lori Greene, a community mosaic artist of Mosiac on a Stick, which provides a backbone for St. Paul community arts. Greene has created a community space which enables a variety of Concordia community art projects. Greene has partnered with professor Cate Vermeland for over fifteen years by exhibiting the work of mosaic artists in the SP gallery.
